Vistors from Brazil - what an excellent way to begin the week. Yesterday, September 21, I had surprise visitors for my USA CUP co-workers. Sha did her usual excited scream and Vicki gave out warm and fuzzy Vicki hugs.
Who stopped in? Katia Hijjar and her husband Rick. Katia works with Gelda from Rio de Janerio, they bring many soccer teams each year from Brazil. Katia came with beautiful rocks from Brazil for each of us - what a special treat. Mine was ametista - gorgeous.
Katia and Rick are on an extended holiday to Canada and some US destinations and made time to stop by the National Sports Center and to visit with guest players from White Bear Lake.
This is what USA CUP is about - bringing soccer players together for many opportunities. Over the last few years it has been a goal of the teams from Rio to add Minnnesota players to their rosters so their teams can have a bigger experience and build long term friendships with players from Minnesota.
It was great fun for Katia to see the National Sports Center fields with only the players in the photo below, because during USA CUP she and Gelda are responsible for many players, coaches and chaperones. It was a quiet during the day yesterday on this field so the Candian geese had the pitch, but the evening brought practices, league play and all the usual activity that happens each day at the NSC.
